Postdoctoral position

Job description

We seek a highly motivated scientist to fill a postdoctoral position in the Pier Paolo Di Fiore laboratory at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan for a project focused on epigenetic modifications involved in cancer progression, in particular in bladder and breast cancer. The candidate will design, execute, and interpret research involving techniques and fundamental molecular and cellular biology research tools to investigate the role of epigenetic alterations of candidate tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes in the biology of human and mouse bladder and breast cancer. This project will involve the use of standard molecular and cellular biology techniques in addition to techniques associated with epigenetic studies, including chromatin immunoprecipitation assays (ChIP) and ChIP-seq as well as comprehensive gene expression analyses, molecular manipulations of target gene expression using viral vectors, and functional analyses in cell lines, primary cells, stem cells and mouse disease models.

Desired skills and experience

The successful candidate should have a PhD with a strong background in molecular biology, cell biology, chromatin and histone biology, genomics, and/or biochemistry. Previous training in epigenetic molecular techniques is required as well as extensive experience in cell culture. Research experience in bioinformatics analysis, primary cells and stem cell manipulation, 3D-organoids culture and animal models would be advantageous.
