Position for Research assistant (animal models)

One position for a Research Assistant on animal models immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Luigi Nezi at European Institute of Oncology in Milan (Italy). Our Lab aims to develop innovative approaches in disease prevention and therapy by manipulating the microbiome. In particular, we have reported the causality between diversity and composition of the gut microbiome and therapeutic outcome in patients of melanoma who were treated with immunotherapy (Science 2018). Moreover, our recent studies showed that compositional peculiarities of the tumor microenviroenement (J. Ex. Med. 2020) and interactions with specific myeloid subpopulations (Nat. Comm. 2022) drive functional changes in infiltrating T cells, leading to a metabolic dysfunctional state or redirecting them toward a pro-tumoral phenotype, respectively.

In our lab we integrate metagenomic, metabolomic, functional assays and the use of pre-clinical models to decode the interplay between the microbiome and the host’s immunesystem during physiological and pathological conditions. The candidate will have the possibility to actively interact with scientists of different background embeddend in a highly dynamic and international environement. Our lab collaborate with worldwide-recognized experts in microbiome and immunological analisys. Overall, the results of our studies will better inform the design of new strategies for disease prevention and treatment.
