Research Technician – Genomics and Epigenomics

The Department of Experimental Oncology (DEO) of the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan is recruiting a Research Technician in the field of Genomics and Epigenomics. The position will be under the supervision of Prof. Pier Giuseppe Pelicci, MD PhD, and Dr. Ivan Dellino, PhD, in the Laboratory of Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer and Aging, dedicated to the study of molecular and biological mechanisms of tumorigenesis, focusing on myeloid leukemia and breast cancer. The successful candidate will conduct high-quality omic analyses for biomedical research and genomic medicine, generate/import new tools and protocols, and assist in functional genomics experiments.

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Degree (B.Sc., M.Sc.) in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field (PhD as a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in performance of laboratory processes such as execution of experimentation, quality assessment, documentation and reporting of results
  • Ability to keep detailed and organized records of all experiments and processes performed at the laboratory
  • Good communication; ability and desire to work with a collaborative, fast‐paced project team in an entrepreneurial work environment
  • Fluency in English

Desirable:

Track record in the following areas:

  • Cell culture experience, preparation of bio-samples
  • Extensive ‘hands-on’ experience and knowledge in genomics and molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA manipulation and extraction, PCR, qPCR, cloning, single cell manipulation, FACS, DNA/RNA library preparation workflows, including metagenomics, amplicon, hybrid capture, and RNAseq as well as operation of Illumina/Nanopore/Thermofisher next-generation sequencing platforms
  • Protein Biochemistry methods such as immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation techniques
  • Familiarity with three-dimensional (3D) genomics (Hi-C, Hi-ChIP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CRISPR based genome editing technique (knock-out line generation, engineering of specific mutations and/or reporters, etc.)
  • Experience following experimental protocols

 

Salary and type of position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and seniority.
