After the High School Diploma in 1996 I followed a course at “Mario Negri” Institute in Milan and obtained a Diploma in “Tecnico di ricerca biochimica” in 1999. At the end of the same year I moved to European Institute of Oncology. I worked in different research groups (Structural Biology Laboratory and Immunology of Dendritic Cells and Immunotherapy Laboratory) and learnt many techniques. The most important are: cell population selection enrichment procedures from tissues, immunological assays (ELISA and CBA), functional assays (T-cell proliferation, dendritic cell stimulation and infection), IHC and IF (widefield and confocal microscopy), molecular biology techniques, ex vivo organ culture (EVOC) of intestinal biopsy, biochemical techniques (WB and IP), microbiological techniques (aerobic/anaerobic culture and colony isolation), insect cells culture and infection, crystallography grade production and purification by FPLC of recombinant protein both from bacterial or insect cells, set up of high-throughput crystallization attempts. From January 2018 I started to work in Genomic Unit of IEO. Our projects include NGS experiments, in particular high-throughput gene expression profiling of mRNAs at single cells level using the 10xChromium, microRNA discovery, genome sequencing, targeted resequencing, genome-wide measurement of mRNA transcripts levels, epigenetic profiling, identification of binding sites of DNA or RNA-associated proteins and other applications.
