The Scientific Advisory Board, composed of external experts, acts as a consultant to the department, offering guidance and fresh perspectives to the governance bodies. Members are appointed by the Chairman after discussions with the Scientific Council. The Board meets on an ad hoc basis, playing a particularly important role during tenure track evaluations.
The DEO Advisory Board features distinguished scientists such as Dr. Genevieve Almouzni, Honorary Director of the Research Centre at Institut Curie and Director of Research Exceptional Class at CNRS (Paris); Prof. Ido Amit, Head of the Laboratory of Immuno-Genomics at the Weizmann Institute of Science; Dr. Jo Bury, Managing Director of the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB); Prof. Riccardo Dalla Favera, Director of the Cancer Genetics Institute at Columbia University (New York); Prof. Kristian Helin, CEO and President of The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR); and Prof. Dr. Ana Martin-Villalba, Head of Molecular Neurobiology and Chair of the Scientific Council at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ).
