Istituto Europeo di Oncologia (IEO) is a globally recognized comprehensive cancer center dedicated to advancing clinical and fundamental science. We are seeking a Grants Officer to join our dynamic team and play a critical role in securing the funding that makes our life-saving research possible.
You will be the link between our scientists and the funding agencies, supporting the entire grant lifecycle from application to final payment.
What You Will Do: Key Responsibilities
You will be a trusted advisor to IEO’s clinical and fundamental scientists, primarily by:
- Assist researchers in identifying, analyzing, and matching their projects with appropriate national and international funding opportunities.
- Support the preparation and submission of project proposals, including detailed work plans, budget construction, and mandatory documentation.
- Negotiate Grant Agreements with funding bodies, working closely with the Legal, Finance, and Technology Transfer departments.
- Oversee awarded grants, ensuring meticulous adherence to all funding agency guidelines, administrative regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Prepare precise financial reports and documentation necessary for first- and second-level audits.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with project partners, consortia members, and external funding agencies.
What You Will Bring: Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Master’s Degree, preferably in Economics, Law, Political Science, or an equivalent field demonstrating a strong analytical foundation.
- Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English (required for international grant communication).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong capacity for teamwork, excellent communication skills and demonstrated capacity to manage and prioritize work under tight deadlines.
Highly Desirable (Significant Advantage)
- Proven, continuous experience (at least 3 years) in the administrative and financial management of funded projects.
- Prior experience working within a Grants/Research Office or a similar administrative role in a life science/research environment.
- Sound expertise and working knowledge of major European and National funding schemes (e.g., Horizon Europe, PNRR/PNC).
