Pre-doctoral fellowship (Ref.2026-04-ID/17)

Chromatin alterations in tumorigenesis

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic predoctoral researcher with a background in molecular and cellular biology, and a strong interest in 3D genome organization, to join our team (https://www.research.ieo.it/research-and-technology/principal-investigators/pier-giuseppe-pelicci/) and contribute to this project.

Chromosome conformation capture-based technologies have revolutionized the study of chromatin organization, but some of them are quite challenging, primarily due to the complexity of combining sensitive techniques such as Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and in situ High-throughput Chromosome Conformation Capture (Hi-C).

Our group has recently developed highly efficient HiChIP protocols targeting both wild type and oncogenic transcription factors.

Within this research framework, the laboratory is investigating early events in cancer progression involving specific classes of repetitive elements mediating long-range interactions with promoters of target genes.

The project will involve the screening and optimization in HiChIP of commercially available antibodies in normal and cancer cells.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in a life sciences discipline, with demonstrated experience in molecular biology.
  • Core Competencies: Proficiency in English (written and spoken), excellent organizational skills, and a strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidates should be highly motivated, intellectually curious, and proactive in driving their research projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Prior hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, such as Chromatin Immunoprecipitation and sequencing (ChIPseq). Experience in Hi-C and/or HiChIP assays will be considered a plus.
