COMPUTATIONAL POSTDOC POSITION (Ref. 2026-02-SG/09)

A postdoctoral position is available for a bioinformatician at the IEO Department of Experimental Oncology in Milan, in the team of Serena Ghisletti.

This position is offered for up to 3 years within the framework of EP PerMed project Precision Medicine for Therapy-Related Myeloid Neoplasias https://www.eppermed.eu/funding-projects/projects-results/project-database/precision-tmn/

Type of contract and salary will be commensurate to candidate’s experience

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and implementadvanced bulk RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics workflows to investigate transcriptional programs and cell heterogeneity in a large patient-cohort of myeloid neoplasms.
  • Analyze and integrate multi-omics data (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq), with a specific focus on the interplay between transcriptional circuits and epigenetic states.
  • Develop and maintainthe lab’s sequencing data processing pipelines (specifically for RNA-seq and single-cell workflows) on high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
  • Identify patient-specific signaturesby correlating longitudinal single-cell data with clinical outcomes to improve the precision patient stratification.

Essential Qualifications

  • PhD degreein bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology or a related discipline
  • Experience in NGS and omics data analysis
  • Strong computational and statistical skills(e.g., Unix, Python, R/Bioconductor) for handling large-scale biological datasets

Additional skills

  • Experience in developing and maintainingrobust sequencing data processing pipelines using workflow managers such as Nextflow or
  • Direct experience in analyzing single-cell and spatial omicsdata (e.g., Seurat, Scanpy, or tools for spatial cell-cell interaction).
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligencetechniques, particularly for developing predictive models of disease progression or patient stratification based on integrated omics data.
  • Familiarity withcontainerization tools (Docker or Singularity) to ensure the reproducibility of computational workflows.
