Post-Doc Bioinformatician - Ref. 2025-10-PGP/50

The lab of Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer and Aging headed by Prof. Pier Giuseppe Pelicci at the European Institute of Oncology IEO of Milan (Italy) is looking for a motivated and talented bioinformatician post-doc. The successful candidate will join an international and multidisciplinary research group to develop and apply statistical, machine learning methods and predictive models to tackle cutting edge questions in cancer genomics, clinical research and epigenetics. The goal of the project is the investigation of mechanisms underlying the formation and repair of endogenous DNA double-strand breaks and their consequences on genome integrity, in the context of high-throughput sequencing data.

The fellowship is immediately available, the salary will be commensurate to the experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, biotechnology or relevant field, already obtained or expected to be obtained within 6 months from the deadline of the call.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in analyzing sequencing data (single cell and bulk RNA-seq, 10x multiome, whole exome/genome sequencing, ChIP-seq, Hi-C, etc.)
  • Programming skills in R and/or python
  • Proficient in Unix system
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

 NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience in cancer related public databases
  • Experience with pipeline manager (NextFlow)
  • Experience with HPC
  • Experience with database construction and maintenance

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Deliver omics sequencing data analyses to the research group, institute and at scientific conferences
