The IEO institute

The European Institute of Oncology (IEO) ( is one of the leading research institutes in Italy. IEO operates as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, linking fundamental and applied research to clinical activities, patient care and clinical trials. The Department of Experimental Oncology ( hosts ~250 scientists working in >20 independent research groups and units. DEO is located within a scientific campus together with two other partner institutions: the FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM) and the Center for Genomics Sciences of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). The IEO is one of the 13 members of the EU-LIFE alliance to promote excellence in life sciences in Europe ( IEO is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through diversity.

The MS Technological Unit

The MS technological Unit at the Department of Experimental Oncology ( provides MS-based proteomics analysis to all IEO scientists, including protein identification, protein expression profiles by label-Free or label-based methods (SILAC, TMT), interaction proteomics (AP-MS, proximity labelling) and characterisation of post-translational modifications.

The unit is equipped with state-of-art of Orbitrap-Hybrid mass spectrometers. The instruments are operating in bottom-up workflows (DDA, DIA) and are coupled to a variety of nano-flow chromatography systems (nLC-1200, Neo Vanquish and Evosep-one). The unit also makes use of an 1680 HPLC (Agilent) for offline peptide fractionation (RP-HpH, SCX). The unit has also implemented Quantitative Proteomics Made Simple (QProMS), an R-based algorithm, search engine-independent data analysis and visualisation tool (

Contract and salary conditions will be based on the candidate’s profile.
