Tiziana Bonaldi, PhD, EMBO Member, is Tenured Group Leader at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan, where she leads the Cancer Epi-Proteomics and Gene Expression Regulation group, and Associate Professor at the University of Milan. An elected EMBO Member (2023), she is internationally recognized for her pioneering contributions to mass spectrometry–based epiproteomics and chromatin biology.
With a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from San Raffaele Institute and postdoctoral training at LMU Munich and the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, she has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications, accumulating >14,200 citations (h-index 47, Google Scholar).
Her research focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms linking chromatin composition and histone modifications to cancer progression and therapy response. Bonaldi’s group develops advanced proteomic and computational platforms, contributing both technological innovations and original findings in MS-analysis of chromatin composition and modifications, on histones and beyond, thus contributing to EU programs, such as EPIC-XS and the NUCLEAR MSCA-DN.
A strong advocate for gender equality and mentorship, she co-founded IEO’s Gender Equality Plan under the EU LIFE LIBRA project and coordinates teaching of Proteomics at the Biomedical Omics Master Course and of Applied Biology at the Nursing Course of the University of Milan.
